![]() That's quite a weird situation, maybe the Socket or CPU has a loose pin or something, or maybe some cracked solder, have you switched to your backup BIOS, using the switch right next to your Asus Front Panel Q Connector. I tried removing all of the RAM and installing just one stick, but the red CPU LED is still on. Please help before I pay someone else to install and wire this, I really would love to do this myself but I didn't think it would take this much time, which I have very little of being enrolled in 3 simultaneous degrees. ![]() I don't know if it's the motherboard (which seems to be working in every other aspect) or the CPU itself. It's plugged in to the motherboard's CPU 4-pin fan connection and the Molex is connected, so I am pretty sure it has power. The Cooler Master V6GT CPU cooler fans aren't spinning, but the LED "dipstick" in front lights up. I don't know why the light is on or how to get the machine working. I didn't know if it was not receiving enough power, which is why I connected the 2 Molex EZ-Plugs after trying it without them connected. I can't find anything in the manual to let me know where to start troubleshooting this issue. I also connected the two 4-Pin EZ-Plugs (Molex connections) from the PSU to the motherboard because the manual said to connect them to ensure sufficient power for running multiple graphics cards (even though I am only running one video card, I tried it without first and then with the Molex connected). I have the 24-Pin power connected from my PSU to my motherboard, as well as the 8-Pin EATX 12V connection. I don't know if I wired something wrong, or if one of the components was DOA when I received it. but then I saw the CPU Q-LED glowing red located by the 24-pin EATXPWR connector. To my excitement, the fan LEDs came on and were blowing air, my 2 5.25" drives were on along with my NZXT Sentry LX 5-Fan Controller, the motherboard lit up and everything seemed great. I have a Thermaltake 230mm Fan (x1) and Aerocool 140mm Devil Red Edition Fans (x2) for air intake, 140mm Aerocool Evil Black Edition Fan (x1) for HDD cooling, and an Aerocool 120mm Devil Red Edition Fans (x1) for exhaust.īeing my first time, I wired everything up (as best as I could figure out) and turned on the system. Inside, I have a Corsair AX850 PSU powering an Asus ROG Crosshair IV Extreme Mobo with an AMD Phenom II 圆 1100T CPU, Cooler Master V6GT CPU Cooler, 16GB (4 x 4GB) Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3 1600, and an EVGA GTX 570HD. CrossLinx 3 uses the Lucid HydraLogix engine, which bridges various graphics cards to enable their simultaneous usage.Right now, I have a Thermaltake Armor+ Case. This allows users to mix and match multiple graphics cards from both AMD and Nvidia, including models of different GPU generations. Without beating around the bush, what separates the Crosshair IV Extreme apart from the pack is Asus' CrossLinx 3 technology. With most high-end AM3 motherboards priced below $200, you have to wonder what is so special about Asus' offering. The Asus Crosshair IV Extreme is set to sell for $300, easily making it the most expensive AM3 product around and costing considerably more than the already opulent Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD7. Since AMD owns the entry-level CPU market, it only makes sense that there are plenty of affordable motherboards, but with the Phenom II X6 range gaining popularity, users are once again looking to invest big in the AM3 platform. A few months ago, we reviewed a handful of budget AM3 motherboards and were surprised at the quality offered by sub-$100 products.

The Irish “Take Me to Church” singer espouses a particularly sapphic kind of yearning, according to his queer fanbase on Tumblr. This is also, bewilderingly, the case for Hozier. right?!? rt if u agree,” she recently tweeted). like it’s in the top 10 best songs of the year FOR SURE. In return, she often echoes the language of her queer fanbase, rooting for herself via the excessively punctuated enthusiasm and multiple letter cases of a Tumblr post (“i really feel like Gone is one of the best songs that has been released this year. This is the case for Charli XCX, once a very active Tumblr user herself. ![]() It’s now increasingly common for queer fans on Tumblr to bolster the popularity of musicians who are thought to be heterosexual. “‘Cause shade never made anybody less gay,” sings Swift, who recently came out as straight, on “You Need To Calm Down.” Queer people will find themselves represented (or appropriated) in pop music now more than ever-they’re even beginning to share a common language. At the same time as this industry-wide shift, says McCracken, “the last 10 years has really seen what is considered by fan studies scholars as the mainstreaming of fandom by the corporate media.” That’s also meant that queer fans, who rely on “transformative works” (fan-created and fan-centered art) in order to serve their own interests, have been targeted more directly. The intense level of engagement that Tumblr inspires from its queer users is an especially valuable currency now that most musicians make more money from their tours and merchandise than their actual music. This itself is not so surprising: In addition to courting a queer audience with her rainbow-colored, LGBTQ-icon-featuring video for “You Need to Calm Down,” Swift’s most active social media presence is on Tumblr, where she regularly interacts with fans, often reblogging their praise and referring to them by their first names. She sees some of the trends found within Tumblr’s LGBT+ tags-“positivity, self-empowerment, vivid colors”-reflected within the visual world of Swift’s seventh album. Brennan points to Taylor Swift’s use of “Tumblr vibes” on her new album Lover, whose cover resembles the kind of fan art you’d find on the platform, all butterflies and millennial pink. This doesn’t mean the artist has to actually be queer, though. “dreamy and thoughtful and super, super queer.” At this point, these album covers might be described as giving off “Tumblr vibes,” Brennan says, i.e. For musicians who came of art and age on the website, the music become inseparable from its same-sex, pastel-colored imagery: the orange of Ocean’s summer of love, the pink-aquamarine of Halsey’s Badlands, the candy-floss backdrop of Troye Sivan’s Blue Neighourhood. ![]() People can share their desires not just with the clumsiness of words, but with the impossible romance of a highly edited image, an endless loop of two people kissing. Users’ dashboards are filled mostly with visual mediums-GIFs, photos, screenshots, and videos, all capable of evoking strong feelings. That image-based ephemera is part of what makes Tumblr resonate with such immediacy. “It had me on the edge of tears, and it makes me so upset b/c to me finding content like that 5 minuet video is so rare.” “I watched Hayley Kiyoko’s 5 minuet music video about two girls,” one user posted, after seeing their desires refracted into ceaseless GIF form for perhaps the first time. In a formative example of this trend, back in 2015, Kiyoko found her music career bolstered by queer Tumblr fandom after releasing “Girls Like Girls.” While she’d already accrued a small following thanks to her role in Wizards of Waverly Place, Kiyoko’s popularity grew exponentially after Tumblr caught wind of her ode to other girls. The same happened for Lil Nas X when he revealed this summer that he isn’t straight. Meme librarian Amanda Brennan, who works on Tumblr’s Fandometrics project to chart fan trends across the site, says she noticed a large spike in popularity for Panic! At The Disco among Tumblr users when the band’s singer Brendon Urie began identifying as pansexual in July 2018. With the rise of queer acceptance came the monetization of it. ![]() We took the set through its paces using the AVI Video Essentials DVD as our reference, and when it came to sharpness the Philips set was outstanding, recreating arrow straight lines without any jagged edges.Ĭolours on the set appear natural, although the television's default settings could give the picture an oversaturated look at times. Sharpness seems to be the main benefactor from all this whiz-bangery, with the 32PF5520D producing an exceptionally detailed picture with crisp edges. Philips has loaded the 32PF5520D with a host of picture enhancing add-ons including jagged line suppression, sharpness adjustment, digital noise reduction and its own Digital Crystal Clear technology. But the sound this Philips pumps out is more than adequate if it's meant to be a second television in your home. If you're serious about your home theatre, you'll obviously want to have a proper surround sound system in place. Another high definition connector like HDMI or component would have been welcome.Īs for sound, this Philips television features 2x15W of power, as well as Virtual Dolby Surround audio technology and Dynamic Bass Enhancement. As well as HDMI, the set has one component, one PC-VGA and two S-Video/composite inputs. It's an impressive inclusion, and is the standout offering in an otherwise basic set of connections. The 32PF5520D comes with an HDMI input, the all digital connector for both sound and vision. Response time rates how fast an LCD screen can refresh the image it's displaying, with quicker response times (the lower the number, the faster) resulting in smoother movement. The 32PF5520D's response time is rated at 18ms, which is once again a little on the unimpressive side compared to other similar models, such as the Sony Bravia which is rated at 8ms. This Philips LCD has a brightness of 500 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 600:1, which is a little on the low side compared to what LG is claiming with its new 32-inch 32LX2D (600 cd/m2 brightness and 1200:1 contrast) and Sony's mid-range Bravia KLV-S32A10 (480 cd/m2 brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio). Panel resolution is a high 1366x768 pixels, which is good enough for 720p high definition should you choose to get a high def tuner. Specifications-wise, the Philips 32PF5520D has some decent if not outstanding features befitting its mid-range status. Still, an SD tuner does get you into the digital domain, with its picture still a marked improvement over analog. The good news is tempered by some bad, however, as unlike the high definition LG range of flatscreen plasma and LCDs, the digital tuner in this Philips is only standard definition. Philips has obviously heard 's constant pleas for new televisions to come pre-installed with high definition tuners, as the 32PF5520D is fitted with both an analog and digital tuner (as does its plasma equivalent, the 42PF7520D). This means that cables stick down vertically instead of horizontally - obviously ideal if you plan to wall mount the set, but it's initially tricky to deal with as your head needs to be below the set to see which connectors are which. The bulk of the Philip's connectors can be found at the back of the television, and are mounted facing down as opposed to facing out the back. There's also an AV input and digital audio out for ease of access. The 32PF5520D's main controls can be found on the left side of the panel, including a power switch, volume and menu buttons. The television's included silver stand is similarly minimal. Philips has also gone a step further down the minimalist track by not including any controls on the front of the unit, with only the company logo on the bottom to intrude on the clean design. That's not to say it doesn't look good - it does, with its neat design it will easily match any living room environment. The Philips' 32PF5520D certainly isn't breaking any new ground when it comes to design, sporting the simple yet functional black frame and silver trim many other flatscreen sets now seem to have. Philips 32PF5520D is a decent performer with some notable pluses (such as its built-in digital tuner), but for a mid-range offering its price of AU$3699 puts it perilously close to the high-end models of players like LG and Sony. ![]() The import from Mac option uses a menu bar app (compatible with macOS 11 and later) and comes ahead of the full Doppler for Mac app coming later this year.
